Nimpo Lake is located in the Pacific Time zone. Pacific Standard Time = GMT – 8 hrs.
Daylight Saving Time is in effect from March through October. DST = GMT – 7 hrs.

Electricity
Canada’s outlets have a frequency of electrical current at 60 Hz with 110 volts. Canadian outlets are the same as outlets in the United States. Adaptors are required for foreign electrical appliances when visiting Canada.

A phone booth is located on Pine Point Resort’s premise. It is available for all guests to use. Prepaid phone cards are available at the local grocery stores.

Area Code
BC has three area codes. Area code 250 is used in the Chilcotin region. Area code 604 encompasses the majority of the Lower Mainland, some Fraser Valley regions, the Sunshine Coast, and Howe Sound. The 778 area code is also used in the Lower Mainland, generally for newer cell phone numbers.

Health
The Anahim Lake Nursing Station is about 15 minutes West of the Nimpo Lake community. Ambulance Service to Williams Lake Hospital 300 km East or to Bella Coola Hospital 130 km West is available. Airlift from the Anahim Lake Airport is also possible.

Currency
For international visitors, it is recommended to have Canadian currency prior to arriving. American Currency (US Dollars) are also widely accepted across Canada, subject to currency conversion costs.

Taxes
- GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a 5% Federal tax applicable to most goods and services purchased.

Customs
All persons entering Canada aboard commercial transportation must have a passport and fill out a declaration card for Canadian Customs. Driving from the US you need photo identification and make their declaration verbally at the border crossing.
A visitor over 19 years of age (21 in the US) is permitted to import 1.1 litres (40 ounces) of liquor or wine, 8.5 litres (288 ounces) of beer, maximum of 50 cigars, 200 cigarettes, and 200 grams (8 ounces) of tobacco. All weapons including guns, knives, and pepper spray must be declared. Handguns are prohibited altogether. Certain fruits and vegetables are prohibited.

International Visitors
For International travellers entering Canada, a valid passport and other documentation, such as a Visa, may be needed. Visitors from the US using commercial transportation require a valid passport to return to the US, but those driving their own vehicles require only photo ID and a birth certificate to prove US citizenship. Passports will eventually be universally required.
